Research Associate position in Data-Driven Medicine (postdoctoral or doctoral level)

The Department of Systems Biology & Bioinformatics at the University of Rostock seeks a candidate with a strong background in applied mathematics to develop a research programme in data-driven medicine.

The post is a University position, which gives freedom in the definition of the research programme and provides funding for up to six years. 40% of the time will however be dedicated to teaching, including the supervision of exercises that accompany lectures in the institutes computer science degree programme. The position is suitable for a postdoc but could also be used for a PhD programme. The salary is at the E13 scale, which the common salary scale for research staff.

The Department provides an international and interdisciplinary team working in broad range of projects related to bioinformatics, systems biology and systems medicine. We contribute introductory classes to systems biology in several masters programmes and an involvement in these courses is welcome. The group has an excellent track record and has ample experience in training young scientists and developing the careers of postdocs.

We expect a solid background in either statistics or applied mathematics and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research. Fluent knowledge of English is essential for the research and German language skills to conduct conversations with students are required.
