Systems Biology Ireland (SBI), UCD School of Medicine, is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow with excellent knowledge concerning molecular biology and the use of Mass spectrometry-based proteomics for the study of signal transduction.
SBI is now expanding the research capacity into the analysis of effects of nanoparticles on human health. Our goal is to enable predictive nanotoxicology by quantitative understanding of interactions at nanoparticles with cells and tissues and determining specific toxicity pathways downstream of these interactions in the framework of the EU Horizon 2020 project “SmartNanoTox“. The main aim of the project is to study the toxicology of different nanoparticles in order to identify adverse outcome pathways. The successful candidate will:
- Characterize biomolecules interacting with nanoparticles using proteomics and lipidomics.
- Perform in vitro experiments to study the molecular mechanisms regulated by nanoparticles.
- Work in close relation with computational modellers to generate data to develop and validate mathematical models.
- Will have to closely interact with other groups in the consortium and in SBI and coordinate the generation and collection of the project wide experimental data necessary.
